I have discovered that telling people you're going on your first cruise is like telling people you are pregnant.
From those who have cruised you hear:
- Their experience (good or bad)
- Advice (you should, you shouldn't, etc.)
From those who have not cruised you hear:
- I've always wanted / not wanted to do that.
- How can you do that with all the trouble they have?
- It's so expensive!
At least with a cruise no one pats my stomach or tries to predict what gender I'm having. I learned with my pregnancies how to listen politely and absorb what I wanted and discard the rest. I am applying the same tactics now, so bring on the comments (about cruising, not pregnancy - I'm done with that phase) and let me know what you think!
