Not a Teenager Anymore

Today is my firstborn's 20th birthday. He's not a teenager anymore. I know this not only because of his birthday, but also having just spent a week with him while he was home on spring break. Today he is declaring his major (I think that's pretty cool to declare on your birthday) - Ethics in Social Institutions with a minor in Philosophy.

I know lots of people like to complain about how immature young adults are now, and I do think there is some truth to that. But overall I think our young adults are doing well. Just because they make mistakes or even poor choices doesn't mean they aren't on track. I know that my kids have learned so much more than I did at their age, it blows my mind. Fortunately my son takes mercy on me and converses with me on my level, not his.

I am incredibly proud of you my son - Happy Birthday!
