Well that was disappointing . . . my daughter has been looking forward to the Maroon 5 concert on The Today Show for the past week. I got her up in time (a little after 8am) to be fully awake to watch. The concert started about 8:40am and we watched together as Adam Levine sang Moves Like Jagger, Payphone and something else (oops, can't remember). The show took breaks between songs and the last break was for the local news and weather and it was announced they would sing one more song when the show came back. We did a couple of other things during that time, then came back in the room at the top of the hour - only to discover our local station had switched to Live with Kelly. What?! I check the lineup and sure enough that's on for one hour, then our station will go back to the Today Show at 10am and then 11am - which means those two hours are time delayed. I knew our local CBS station WFMY did a one hour time delay on the CBS This Morning Show because they seem to think we'd rather watch them prathering on about recipes, cutsy outfits and "local fun". But I didn't know WXII did this too.
Now, I know about time delayed broadcasts - I lived out West for a number of years and was used to things being time delayed. But I've grown accustomed on the East Coast to having "live" really mean "live".
It's not the end of the world of course in the big scheme of things, but it was a disappointing end to an anticipated pleasure. Oh well, glad this doesn't really affect our day, have a good one!
