Epiphany will be celebrated today (though technically it was Friday - 12 days after Christmas).
According to dictionary.com
there are four meanings. In the general population I think the most commonly used definition is; "a sudden, intuitive perception of or insight into the reality or essential meaning of something"
I did not grow up observing Epiphany, but have enjoyed learning about the Christian meaning of it the last few years. The Christian observance is of: "A Christian festival commemorating the manifestation of Christ to the gentiles in the persons of the Magi."
